Privacy & your information

Internal pilot · workflow information updated October 3, 2026

What the service keeps

Your account identifier, profile and contact details, service addresses, requests, attachments, conversations, booking decisions, support cases and technical delivery records are stored to run the service. Keep access codes, financial information and unrelated personal details out of descriptions, photos and videos.

Sign-in providers

Existing accounts use ChatGPT sign-in. When Google or email sign-in is available, Clerk manages identity verification and sessions; Google also processes a Google sign-in. FixSpect stores the provider identity needed to recognize your account. Signing in through a different provider does not automatically combine your accounts or transfer existing requests. Use your original sign-in method to access those records.

Who can see a request

Matching introduces companies approved for FixSpect access based on the service, ZIP code and availability. Introduced companies can see the request and an approximate map location. Each company sees its own conversation and visit proposals; the customer can see their incoming responses. Expressing interest does not remove other companies’ access. Before a visit is confirmed, the exact address is withheld from other contractors. Phone and email are hidden from contractors by default; you can enable or disable sharing with booked contractors in your profile settings. Operators can review company access and support cases.

Photos and videos

Image metadata is removed before images are shared. This does not hide information visible inside an image. Original videos are available to the customer and booked company; eligible companies may see a still preview before booking. Do not include people, documents or rooms that are unrelated to the repair.

Optional AI research

If you opt into AI research when submitting a supported service request, reported equipment details, the problem description and image evidence are sent to OpenAI. Supported categories include plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, appliance repair, handyman, roofing, landscaping and cleaning; relevant documentation may still be unavailable. Sampled video frames may be used; audio is not analyzed. The service excludes structured addresses and contact fields and filters common personal details from text, but that filtering cannot guarantee removal of everything you write or photograph. Web research and manual retrieval use external providers. You can decline AI research and still request service. Customers receive preliminary references and observation-only checks; professional troubleshooting is reserved for the service company. The report does not confirm a diagnosis, repair price or completed work.

Maps and notifications

The street, city, state and ZIP code are sent to the U.S. Census geocoder to place the map pin. ZIP area lookups use Zippopotam.us. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap; loading a map shares network information with the tile provider. Browser alerts use your browser vendor’s push service after you enable them. You can disable alerts in your browser or the app.

Export, retention and removal

Download your account data while signed in. Archiving a request removes it from the active board; it does not delete the record. During the internal pilot, request and booking records are retained until an operator handles a removal request. Open a privacy case in Help & support to request correction or removal, including attachments. The operator will explain any records that must be retained and confirm the outcome. Provider processing and backups have their own retention periods.

Before a public launch, the operator must supply its legal identity and privacy contact and finalize retention and request-handling policies. This page describes the current internal service.
